What To Expect
We’re here to help you prepare for your stay, and our staff will do everything possible to guide you on your journey of lifelong recovery. Our primary focus at The Recovery Village Miami at Baptist Health Drug and Alcohol Rehab is outpatient care. We offer drug and alcohol addiction treatment as well as mental health care for co-occurring conditions in a supportive outpatient environment.
At our outpatient facility, you’ll receive daytime treatment that may include mental and physical health assessments, medical support and mental health counseling. For everyone’s safety, we ask that you avoid bringing drugs, alcohol or paraphernalia to the facility. We also respectfully ask that you don’t bring any products with alcohol, including mouthwash or hand sanitizer. In addition, please avoid wearing clothing that shows drugs, alcohol, paraphernalia or explicit language or images.
The Treatment Process
The treatment process can vary depending on your individual and personal needs, but the general structure of care usually includes:
- Intake assessment: During this initial stage of treatment, each client goes through an intake process. We use the results of your assessment and evaluation to create a treatment plan specific to you.
- Level of care: Once your intake assessment ends, we’ll determine the right level of care for you. Depending on your assessment, we might start you at a more intensive level of care than outpatient treatment. For example, you may start with medical detox and eventually move into outpatient care as part of a phased transition.
- Outpatient treatment: If our team decides outpatient care is appropriate for you, you’ll enroll in treatment at our facility. Our outpatient programs include medical and counseling appointments and support meetings that take place during the day. After each day’s treatment, you’ll return home or to a sober living environment.
- Aftercare: Before you leave our program, you’ll receive a detailed aftercare plan that includes follow-up appointments, relapse prevention strategies and more. We’ll also provide you with resources in your community based on your needs.
Our Facility
The Recovery Village Miami at Baptist Health Drug and Alcohol Rehab is dedicated to servicing communities throughout South Florida. We’re centrally located in South Miami and are close to other Baptist Health locations, ensuring a smooth transition for treatment if you’re interested in receiving outpatient care.

Treatment Programs and Therapies Offered
Whether you’re starting with outpatient treatment or coming from a higher level of care, we’re here to help you succeed. Our treatment facility offers outpatient and transitional treatment programs at varying levels of intensity, allowing you to receive flexible care that addresses your specific needs in recovery.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) helps patients who are dealing with withdrawal symptoms. Under careful supervision, certain medications can help reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings that often occur in early recovery. In some cases, MAT can help patients entirely avoid symptoms of withdrawal.
Medication-assisted treatment works best alongside counseling and behavioral therapy, which help provide a holistic and evidence-based approach to addiction treatment. MAT is primarily used to treat opioid addiction and alcohol dependence.
Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP)
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) helps address substance use disorders and complex co-occurring mental health needs. While IOPs are intensive at the treatment level, they don’t include around-the-clock supervision.
With an IOP, you can explore what life will be like as you return to your family and community. You will also work on relapse prevention and coping strategies to build a strong foundation of support.
Outpatient Programming
Outpatient treatment is designed for those who don’t need an intensive level of care, and it allows people to maintain a sense of stability while still receiving treatment and care. Our outpatient programs are highly scalable to your individual needs, allowing you to receive psychotherapy, psychiatric care and medical care on a regular schedule. We’re also here to help you juggle the responsibilities that come with life outside of the treatment center.
Teletherapy
Teletherapy offers convenience, flexibility and accessibility by connecting you with licensed professionals in a secure and confidential virtual environment. It offers flexible scheduling and allows you to participate in group or individual therapy using a computer or smartphone device.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a method developed to help prevent relapse in people with substance use disorders. It can also help address co-occurring mental health conditions such as depression. With CBT, you can identify and correct problematic thought processes and behaviors while learning different skills to help you avoid using drugs and alcohol. Research shows that skills learned through CBT remain with people long after completing treatment.
Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) is another established treatment approach for people who have substance use disorders and other mental health conditions. DBT revolves around the concepts of change and acceptance, helping people make changes while also accepting situations that occur. DBT can be provided through individual sessions, group skills training or teletherapy.
Aftercare Planning
Aftercare planning addresses your recovery needs after your acute care ends. During aftercare, you’ll work with your clinical team on maintenance medication plans and receive recommendations for ongoing individual therapy. You may also receive recommendations for group therapy sessions or lists of local 12-step support groups.
No matter what your needs may be, our team will connect you with local resources to ensure you maintain stability and accountability in your commitment to lifelong recovery.

Insurance and Your Obligation During Treatment
Many health insurance plans require out-of-pocket costs in order to access your healthcare benefits. These expenses may include Deductibles, Co-Pays, Coinsurance % and Maximum Out-of-Pocket Expenses (collectively, the “Patient Responsibility”).
Your individual Patient Responsibility may vary based on a number of factors including:
- Your individual benefits plan
- Length of treatment at the facility
- Type of services received during treatment
- Other services offered at the facility, but not covered by your insurance provider (such as lab tests, non-covered prescriptions, etc.)
A staff member will review your Patient Responsibility with you at the time of admission or as soon as possible once you are medically stable. They will explain that the deductible is due upon admittance to the facility and the co-insurance amount and out-of-pocket balance will be billed and paid for after treatment once services are complete. On-site financial counselors will again review your financial responsibility during treatment with case managers who can help you navigate FMLA.
It is your responsibility to check with your insurance provider prior to admission at The Recovery Village Miami at Baptist Health to understand your individual benefits plan. Please note that your insurance plan may not be a “participating provider” with The Recovery Village Miami at Baptist Health. You are responsible for all non-covered and out-of-pocket costs related to your treatment stay.
